Just after the Second World War, the area was the subject of a dangerous deforestation, which caused the disappearance of cork oaks. Later the the State Forestry commission worked tirelessly to replant the wood, favouring conifers and eucalyptus trees.
The wooded area of Arcudaci or Scorace, as it is better known, is unfortunately one of only a few naturalistic areas in the province of Trapani. The flora includes broom, oak, elm, the strawberry tree and some typical Mediterranean species. The animals include the hare, the rabbit, the robin and the viper.
