Baglio Pocoroba is a large, perfectly restored, nineteenth century famhouse (baglio).

Its enviable position near the archaeological park of Segesta makes it a unique place in Sicily.

The term baglio

Used above all in Sicily and in Calabria, the term comes from the ancient French word ´bail´, meaning internal courtyard. In Sicilian it literally means a large cobbled courtyard, but over time, its meaning has extended to encompass a type of rural house, halfway between a farmstead and a manor farm, with in fact, a large closed courtyard within the building.

The activities and sports to do at our baglio: There are a great number of activities and sports to do at our baglio: from trekking to mountain biking around the many tracks of naturalistic interest of the area, from horse-riding to fishing. It is also possible to organise particular excursions such as birdwatching on Mount Inici, in search of the Bonelli´s eagle, or paragliding or flying a deltaplane from the mountain of Montagna Grande.

Wedding at the Ancient Theatre of Segesta: Exceptional event at Segesta: the first wedding in the Ancient Theatre. The young couple from Augusta asked for and obtained special permission from the State Authorities.

Cycling holidays: For your cycling holidays, why don´t you come to our Baglio where you will have the possibility to organise excursions to the temples of Segesta and the nearby Mount Barbaro. We will put at your disposition a shed and tools necessary for the maintenance of your bicycles.
