It opens on October 16 and will be open until November 4th at the Sala Torre Arsa Library Fardelliana Trapani an exhibition on the First World War, of which recur this year the 100th anniversary of the entrance of Italy in the fighting.
The cultural event is organized by the Library Fardelliana, in collaboration with the photo library of Friuli and the town of Trapani.
The exhibition conceived and curated by Enrico de Luca makes known through texts, maps and photos of the war one of the twentieth century, remembered among the fiercest that history has ever lived since the conflict caused, among the fallen soldiers and victims civilians altogether, an estimated 15 to 17 million deaths.
65 million deaths if one includes in the calculation also the casualties caused Spanish flu of 1918-1919. But there are not only the dead, but also the many wounded and disabled, whose figures roam around twenty million.
As for the Italian front, which incidentally is the theme of the exhibition, a study based on official government figures, estimated at 651,000 the stepping fallen during the conflict, while the civilian deaths were calculated at 1,021,000.
The First World War on the Italian front involved, so many civilians, who died from malnutrition and lack of food not to mention the diseases.
The exhibition has a purpose for the younger generation to understand that popular war is not a solution, but the beginning of many problems, from which you will never go back, because everything is lost with war, everything is possible with peace .
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 9 to 13.30 and from 15 to 19.30, while on Saturdays it is only open from 9 to 13.00.
