A year of great achievements that will invest the historic village of Erice. The small medieval town , renowned hub of arts and sciences is a candidate to become a UNESCO initiative of Mayor James Tranchida , who presented on the afternoon of Friday, September 3rd the nomination for the top note medieval list of the UNESCO world heritage by ´ Unesco . We walked right Mayor James Tranchida to tell us the interesting and shareable initiative .
Mayor , Erice as a Unesco world heritage site would be a great achievement , tells us where does the initiative ? Since I took office I wondered what to do to improve the exploitation of a millennial cultural heritage that Erice is in the history of the Mediterranean , as well as on the international scene . Obviously between the practices and promotional initiatives , the development of the "immaterial " , precisely making it recognized as world heritage site, has become a goal to pursue. Depth the outcome and the motivation of the previous attempts we have identified the negative strategy and sought partners and appropriate skills to achieve the purpose . The path will be long and detailed, but certainly compelling , with a strong awareness of the nomination "winning" that we will have to (re) propose .
The medieval town is also preparing to host an Observatory of Peace, who will take office at the Pepoli Tower (soon to be restored ) , what is it ?
In essence born the first " living museum " , current , contemporary, multimedia located in one of the service areas of the Pepoli Tower , whose restoration work will start in a few weeks . A real recording chamber (almost like a real confessional ) connected to the internet and with multilingual translator that , in real time, record and disseminate worldwide commitments , proclamations, ideas and proposals , but also simple tips and best practices for peace, for the protection of the rights and intercultural and interfaith dialogue in the world. We start from the Mediterranean , with testimonies and interviews personalities from the institutional, political, cultural, economics, science , religions , but also ordinary citizens and young people, will have to release live and physically on the site, Erice. A "living will " politician, a "confession " that videotaped public , as well as being widespread in real time in the world, will involve the construction of a museum "alive" today. Next to the technical- scientific idea of the birth of an Observatory , together with the City of Assisi and others, to build a critical nucleus , but purposeful at the same time , in reviving the values and ideals that daily help us to rediscover the colors of the ´ rainbow .. the same as sunrise and sunset every day , from the " sky " have the chance to see the land and the surrounding sea .
Places of mystery , charm and culture of those linked to the territory of Erice. What are the attractions of the place and curiosity (even food and wine ) that would advise you to try those who have never been there ?
From dawn to dusk you can , wherever you turn off the look from the top of the mountain, discover and experience the suggestions of colors and landscapes all around. Even the winds (which meet all of Erice ) lead to those who can hear and see beyond the limits of their own knowledge -media information , along with cries of despair also looks hopeful migrants of the sea and the southern hemisphere . Even the kitchen, brings us back to ancient tastes even perfected by the magic of the current and contemporary gastronomic local workshops . Cibus Venus , was not only an invention of the media and a special prize of the Venus d´Argento in 2010 , perhaps to pay homage to the kitchen, brush traditions . Above all , it has been and will continue to be a cultural : the palate and flavors help you to see and hear the magic of story time and think that it is worth spending for groped to leave it better for the future.
