From May 30 until June 2 and the medieval town of Erice will be for the second consecutive year the venue of the festival Federicina, a historical arrival in town of the King of Sicily Frederick III of Aragon and his wife Eleanor.
This event is organized by the association "TraDuMari", of which he is the director artisitco Maestro Claudio Maltese, and is sponsored by the town of Erice and the Foundation EriceArte.
This evocation arises from the assumption that this event has been in the past particularly experienced by the town, so it seemed right to propose it to the general public at the start of the tourist season. Frederick III of Aragon left a tangible sign of his presence in Erice; in fact built the Real Duomo, where you can still see the symbol of the royal house of Aragon.
Are three hundred figures that animate the four days of the event with a series of initiatives, which will culminate Saturday, May 30 at 17.30 at Porta Trapani, with the arrival in the medieval town par excellence of the procession led by the King and Queen, followed by all dignitaries.
The program also provides for the delivery of the keys in Piazza Loggia and at 19.00 there will be the opening of the medieval village to Torri del Balio with dancing and flag-wavers. The medieval village will be open daily from 11.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 20.00, where there will be the participants, who will interpret the medieval merchants, who, with their stalls exhibiting the merchandise to sell to visitors . Finally at 20.30 there will be the Convivio Regale in the castle gardens.
Every day for the duration of the event there will be parades of musicians and flag bearers, from Camporotondo Etneo (CT).
But this is only the beginning of the first four days. How many will have the opportunity to go up to Erice, they can immerse themselves in a world that has now disappeared, tasting the typical dishes medieval.
The event will close on June 2, starting at 11:00 am with the 2nd regional meeting of the Historical Processions of Sicily. At 18:00 grand finale with a floral tribute to the Celestial patroness of Erice.
