Like every year renews the time trial Monte Erice, which in 2015 celebrates its 57th edition, and will be the event that will open the Italian championship speed of the mountain in 2015.
This event was born September 5, 1954 and at the time the route was along 16,550 meters; over the years the length of the route has been changed several times, reaching the current of 5,730 meters with an average gradient of 6.82%.
Every year many people among fans and visitors attending the Monte Erice, that some issues are included in the calendar of international hill climbs.
The time trial starts from Valderice to come through a journey uphill with many curves to the monumental St. John of Erice. As each edition are many members, lovers of speed and racing in general, participating in the event, which will be another test preparatory Sicilian, the 61st Cup Nissena of Caltanissetta on 25 and 26 April.
The Monte Erice for various organizational reasons was held in 1961, 1976, 1977 and 1980. This year´s Monte Erice takes place in two days, on 18 and 19 April with the holding of two races, instead of one. Next to the race for the modern cars, there will also be a competition reserved for historic cars, thus eliminating the limit of 35 historic cars that could compete with modern ones. For those wishing to visit Erice during automotive event, you can reach the top by cable car.
