For almost 400 years takes place in Trapani on Good Friday Procession of the Mysteries, which is one of the most famous representations of the Passion of Christ.
The origin is Spanish, from the ancient Casazas that developed in Genoa and in all other lands dominated by the Spanish. The procession, which is composed of 18 groups, plus the two statues of Jesus and the Dead Lady of Sorrows, begins at 14 Good Friday and ends twenty-four hours. Is considered the longest Italian religious event and especially among the oldest. The procession starts from the Church Holy Souls in Purgatory and through the main streets of the historic center of Trapani.
