One of the rituals before the Holy Week in the province of Trapani is "scinnuta" Groups of the Sacred Mysteries, which runs for the duration of Lent.
The "scinnuta" is a ritual that dates back to 1653 and provides for the display of the Mystery of the moment at the altar of the church, where the mysteries are kept.
The exhibition, which was curated by the Brotherhood of St. Michael, began in the morning of Friday of Lent.
The "Scinnute" opened the first Friday of Lent and closed with the Group of Our.
The word "scinnuta" in dialect means descent or down to signify that the Mystery, being for the entire liturgical year stored in its niche, then came down, precisely, and at the center of the altar along with the SS. Sacramento and the statues of the dead Christ and the Madonna Addolorata.
In ancient times the rite of "scinnuta" not interested in all the Sacred Mysteries of Groups, but only five of these. Then in the late ´80 many groups have wanted this rite to be extended to all the others. Today, while the group is exposed, outside the church band played the funeral marches.
After completing the ritual, following the Mass celebrated by the bishop of Trapani.
