Followed by a panel discussion on issues concerning the territory of the Middle Ages and Alcamo Trapani, coordinated by architect Salvatore Cusumano and introduced by engineer Enza Anna Parrino, Manager of the Technical Services and Maintenance activities of the City of Alcamo and Designer of the Restoration. Will participate as speakers Leonardo d´Asaro, Ferdinando Maurici, Ignazio Longo and Patrizia Mina. Giuseppe La Colla, author of the photographs and graphic designer of the project and of the exhibition, it will illustrate the concept and content to guide the visiting guests of the event.

The Cuba of the Roses, the catchment area of the water of a spring at the base of the northern slope of the relief of Serra Conzarri, is part of the system of supply, distribution and disposal of water used from the town opened a medieval district of Calatubo. The book covers roughly the settlement dynamics in the territory and proposes a reconstruction of the physiognomy of the agricultural landscape, and the distribution of the forms of the settlement, with reference to the organizational model of the feud and strategies of control and management of the estate.
During the event will be presented to the public by the discovery of a building of considerable size, located at the foot of the Castle during archaeological surveys conducted simultaneously with the restoration of Cuba of the Roses.

The restoration of the Cuba of the Roses, designed and put in place by the engineer Enza Anna Parrino, was designed to restore function and to ensure sustainable use of the system and, in this way, to preserve the memory of the community, to promote cultural development and to ensure the same material conservation of the property for purposes of public use. The preliminary surveys have allowed the restoration proper framing of the structure among other examples of rural archeology that make up the historical, ethno-anthropological, architectural and landscape of the territory of Alcamo. The Rose of Cuba, like other works of catchment and derivation, is part of a system of water management extremely flexible, adapted from time to time to the specific climatic and physiographic. As the ggebbie, the twill, the ggibbiuna, the cunnutti, the wattali and mills, witnesses of a tradition and of a technological knowledge of priceless historical and cultural value, of which we must regain, riscattandone vestiges degradation.
It is precisely in the expectations of the round table to stimulate debate and give impetus to initiatives aimed at the protection and enhancement of the territory.

The photographic exhibition Footprints of water is a collaboration between the City of Alcamo and the photographer Giuseppe La Colla. Inspiration contains a conceptual design and vision that privileges the nakedness of matter and landscape, without concealing its components disturbing. The project takes the form of fifty beautiful shots in black and white that stop metaphorically the time marked by the flow of water and translate into images the impalpable memory of the events that have shaped the territory of Calatubo and legends that have amplified the charm. A tribute to the culture, the beauty and the rarefied atmosphere of Alcamo, interpreted and re-lived in the story ´painting´ of a photographer who is both reflection, denunciation and profession of love for those places. The vernissage will begin with an introduction to the path taken care of by the same author.
The exhibition will be open to the public 18th to 31 December 2014 at the headquarters of the former Jesuit College, Piazza Ciullo, Alcamo.
