Salt: For most people, today, and everyday common thing, almost exclusively used in cooking to flavor dishes. For others, however, in the past has been a job, a source of livelihood for their families in areas such as Trapani, where they insist ancient saline, subjected to their high environmental value to different protection constraints (the last one dating back to 2011, when the Ministry of Environment has declared a wetland of salt pans of Trapani site "of international importance").
Today, machines and factories have almost everywhere and almost completely replaced human labor about the precious "white gold", subtracting one hand employment, while on the other to give this charming and ancient craft - you think that in Trapani it was imported by the Phoenicians, even 3,000 years ago - the history and art. How can we forget, in fact, the salt museum Trapani, within which exhibits numerous antique utensils and antique prints and photos.
Precisely the latter - ricollegandoci to the aforementioned art "Salinara" - are featured in the exhibition "The men of salt", to be held until next October 5th at the central library Fardelliana of Trapani.
