On the occasion of the beloved celebration of Saint Lucia , this year the City of Paceco Cuccìa organized the festival , which is one of the Christmas Sicilian dishes prepared exclusively on the occasion of the 13th of December. The origin of the cuccìa has roots firmly anchored in centuries away from us , in fact it was used to feed the people of Syracuse , hit by famine, which was saved by the unexpected arrival of a ship carrying grain . From there then was used to venerate and celebrate Saint Lucia , who had saved the people from famine. Saint Lucia is celebrated on December 13 because on that day , back in 304 , Syracuse, died. The cuccìa consists of simple ingredients and poor, creating unusual combinations for our palates : wheat and mulled wine , and if necessary, you can also add us honey , chocolate, and so on. The event therefore provides a revaluation of this traditional dish , thanks to the Sicilian tradition games ( sack races , play the pan , etc. ) . Then it will be possible to taste the typical dessert topped with cooked wine, cheese and chocolate cream and will be the usual distribution of arancine .
