On the morning of 8 December Immaculate Night Procession will take place at Segesta . The traditional procession will pass through the streets of the historic center , creating a veritable stream of light, which will follow the historic statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary .
From 4 o´clock in the morning the procession will carry a special ´ Mmaculatedda , ie, a small statue of the Immaculate Conception, and will conclude with Mass .
This tradition comes to the present day from very ancient times , and comes from a private procession that was repeated every year , at night , even before the sacred functions would start , which dragged the statue to the church of San Michele. As time goes on more and more people came to affezionandosi Simulacrum , therefore the faithful who carried visibly increased in number up to become a real procession carrying the statue leading her through the streets of the country according to the processional route today still force .
Just like then , the faithful light the way with a torch light that makes the atmosphere even more special , together with the ancient custom of ´ vuciate ´ traditional in honor of Our Lady.
