At 17.30 on 13 November 2013 at the Day Centre Municipal Buseto Palizzolo will be inaugurated the exhibition of marine molluscs of the Mediterranean created by the Centre for Studies and Research of CSI and donated to the City of Buseto Palizzolo .
The exhibition will be presented by the Mayor Luca Gervasi and Luigi Bruno dealing with the theme : Shells : wonders of the sea .
It is the exposure of more than a hundred specimens with the aim of offering a broader vision of this type of marine fauna.
An operation that comes from the need to offer some of marine biology and news that originated from a rich collection of shells from Mediterranean and tropical seas , part of the material contained in the former Malacological Museum of Erice and that is part of a promotion conceived and carried out by the same Bruno which has set itself the goal of making our province also become a " Province of malacology " , waiting for some institution is aware of the importance of the subject .
A pretty daunting task for which were laid some groundwork already making available to the City of Valderice , nautical Technical Institute of Trapani, the Association of Marettimo some collections and Having achieved in July 2012 an exhibition in Favignana and from 23 September 27, 2013 at an exhibition in Trapani with its postmark and with the presentation of more than 300 specimens .
A summary of a scientific value that wants to offer a cross-section of the existing shellfish in the Mediterranean ( including also the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic) with particular attention to those species found stranded on the coasts of Tramontana and Ronciglio of Trapani.
These shells of molluscs belonging to the following classes : Gastropoda , Bivalvia ; scaphopods ; Cephalopods ; Polyplacophora ; Octocoralli : ( Corallium rubrum) or red coral , Hexacorallia ( Black Coral ) .
To admire specimens of Tonna galea , Pinna nobilis , of Charonia lampas lampas ( the largest in the Mediterranean) Washer of olive oil and other shells , some of which does not exceed one millimeter in size .
The vision of the collection is also allowed from 15.00 to 18.00 in the opening days of the Day Centre Hall.
