The exhibition of the molluscs of the Mediterranean will open on September 23 at 9:30 am at the Palace Pappalardo / Milo Via Garibaldi, in Trapani 76 with more than 300 specimens of Mediterranean shells , regularly cataloged, with the aim of offering a vision of citizenship of this type of marine fauna.
The vision of this material is permitted through the large windows on the ground floor of the building and facing the Via Garibaldi.
The specimens , which are part of the collection of Luigi Bruno , represent that part of a project for the dissemination of the material that is being developed for many years in our area.
In fact, some collections are located at the Nautical Institute and the City of Trapani Valderice .
They were also displayed at the municipality of Favignana and at the Museum of the sea of Marettimo .
An operation that arises from the need to provide the city of marine biology and news that originated from a rich collection of shells from Mediterranean and tropical seas , part of the Malacological Museum of Erice , consisting of specimens collected and stored and that, unfortunately , failure sensitivity of the institutions is expected to remain closed in a warehouse.
A summary of a scientific value that wants to offer a cross-section of the existing shellfish in the Mediterranean ( including also the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic) with particular attention to those species found stranded on the coasts of Tramontana and Ronciglio of Trapani.
These shells of molluscs belonging to the following classes : Gastropoda , Bivalvia ; scaphopods ; Cephalopods ; Polyplacophora ; Octocoralli : ( Corallium rubrum) or red coral ; Hexacorallia .
To admire specimens of Tonna galea , Pinna nobilis , Pinna pernula , Atrina pectinata , of Charonia lampas lampas ( the largest in the Mediterranean) and Argonauta argo , of Carinaria Mediterranean, Washer of olive oil and some hundreds of other shells of which does not exceed one millimeter in size .
