In Buseto Palizzolo, on March 24 Stations of the Cross through the beautiful hills between Abbey Village and the town center, where it ends. Unique is considered one of the most important festivals in Sicily. The living pictures tell the story ranging from the entry of Christ into Jerusalem to the Resurrection since 1981. The script that was comprised of eleven paintings over the years has seen major changes and additions, the most interesting of which was the addition of scenes relating to the whole period of Holy Week until the episodes of the apparitions of the Risen Christ. The current appearance of the Cross is the result of a long succession of events, large and small, that the procession was not identical to the previous one, but always evolving. The whole time of the performance, from the afternoon to late evening, the characters remain motionless above the tanks. Time of considerable involvement, immediately after the conclusion of the Sacred Performance, is the Procession and the entrance to the Cathedral Church of the Holy Crucifix accompanied by the faithful and by musical bands united in one complex of hundreds of musicians. At dusk on Good Friday, in a silence broken only by the prayer of the faithful and the ciaccola carriers, the Holy Crucifix returns to the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, from which will come back in a year, on the day of Palm Sunday.
