A marine paradise and a place of protection for aquatic flora and fauna. This is in fact the Reserve Egadi and Favignana marine protected area.
In this month Legambiente volunteers and staff have recovered 2 of the Marine turtles in difficulty for the rehabilitation and ricoloocazione at sea.
The two tartarghe, species "caretta caretta" had been recovered in different circumstances but both victims of the difficult but necessary coexistence between man and nature.
The first had a fishhook stuck in his mouth and twisted fishing line to a fin that caused mobility problems and pain. The second turtle was recovered in Favignana otlre of the weight of 30 kg. and had limited mobility.
Both were recovered, treated and will soon be released back into their natural habitat.
Together with dolphins Favignana , also turtles of Favignana represent the majesty of nature may be encountered near the Egadi Islands Marine Reserve. Well aware of this, and how nature can tourist do fly, the government in cooperation with animal welfare organizations, are taking a lead to protect and preserve what nature always in danger before the human technology.
Favignana and Egadi islands are not new to this type of operations and in the past have been the subject of episodes of turtle rescue that inhabit these waters and nest on some beaches of Trapani, especially in the beach of Selinunte coming to lay up to 200 eggs per brood.
