The sailors and fishermen who sailed near Marettimo Island had seen often. Dolphins are the Egadi Islands, intelligent and curious, they used to escort the boats and occasionally hitch a little fish dropped into the water by sailors.
These days, aided by the flow of tourism, the establishment of protected marine reserve and a renewed awareness of the natural persons, the Egadi dolphins with their young, have begun to be seen more frequently in the area of sea between Favignana and Levanzo.
Always playful and boisterous, are becoming real tourist attraction and mascot of the Egadi attracting the curiosity of tourists and residents and making it clear once more that is tourism related to nature, the real driving force of these territories, rather than feared drilling oil.
