It was lowered into the sea the giant statue of Madonna Custonaci to protect the sailors and to remember all victims of the sea.
The ceremony coincided with the celebrations for the Madonna herself Custonaci and culminated with the sinking of the work, created by sculptor Giuseppe Cortese, near the reserve of Mount Hood.
Custonaci town world famous for its marble, donated the block pearl of Sicily that has allowed the realization of this work, four meters high and that, now, can be seen by divers and scuba divers along with the natural beauty of the seabed the coast of Trapani.
