The news was the travel website Tripadvisor has announced the winners of the 2012 Traveller's Choice Destinations Awards Beaches. Prizes were awarded to 181 beach resorts in the world of twenty-one geographic areas. "Knowing that San Vito Lo Capo has been elected for the second consecutive year, most beautiful beach in Italy is news that fills us with pride," said Mayor Matthew Rizzo. "It is the reward for our efforts and work year after year." In second place from Villasimius (Sardinia). After the third assigned to Otranto (Puglia), is Cagliari (Sardinia).
