Recipes and tastings, a fair featuring local products and then tours, lectures and moments of the show. All events will revolve around two of the most typical products of agro-Sicilian garlic and salt.

In particular the Trapani area, or of Saline Nubia, where it is grown garlic red product today surveyed the deans of the International Slow Food, and where salt mining is an activity rooted since the time of Phoenicians, who built in the appropriate basins from which to plan the export of the substance, which was already considered the main food flavor enhancer, in different places of the Mediterranean.



It is the festival Garlic Salt Red White who, from this evening until Sunday, July 31, will be held at the Salt Museum of Nubia, in Erice, in the province of Trapani, in the Natural Reserve of Saline.

The event, organized by the city of Marsala, is intended as a showcase to show how the production of these foods and their many uses in the kitchen.

But, also, as a moment to convey in the territory of the Reserve, established by the Sicilian Region in 1995 and entrusted to WWF management of Trapani, a large parterre of tour operators and the media, and especially visitors, for a weekend full of taste, culture and traditions.

Along with recipes and tastings of dishes accompanied DallŽAglio red, will attract the attention, in particular, the activity of salt-of Nubia, which, starting from tonight at 21, you will observe closely the Traditional manual harvesting, accompanied by traditional chants. As will be later, around 23, the activation of an old windmill with sails of the blades.

The Saturday morning will be instead characterized by a conference dedicated to excellence in agricultural food production to be protected under the brand name of origin IGT and a guided tour of the salt pans (by reservation).

In the late afternoon (from 18) is provided for the inauguration of the restored mill salt "Chiusicella", belonging to the family Gucciardo, while in the evening, the Salt Museum, will open the Gourmet Area, with tasting (fee), shows music and animation and demonstrations of braiding garlic.

Visits to reserves also will mark the day on Sunday. One of these will, in particular, the Tower of Nubia and its unspoilt scenery.

In addition to allow communication between different actors of the territory and give greater visibility to the salt pans and the productions of the territory, the aim of the festival is to support the action for recovery of windmills, objects that characterize the landscape and history of the extraction salt. Of the two recently renovated, one will be presented on the occasion of the Red White Garlic Salt.
