The music festival “Quintessenza jazz Trapani” is back for its second edition, an event dedicated to jazz music that boasts many admirers in Trapani who last year applauded this short but intense jazz season.
This year too, the Ariston cinema theater will be the location of the festival that will begin on March 6 and end on April 3 after five events that promise great music, thanks to the protagonists that Mauro Carpi, artistic director of the festival, will bring to the great Trapani native.
The debut on March 6 will be by Karima, already a competitor in 2006 on Amici di Maria De Filippi, with a truly exciting musical journey on the notes of artists such as Pino Daniele and Umberto Bindi, reinterpreting very famous songs that have made the history of Italian music.
The second event on March 12 includes the performance of Luca Filastro, a very famous pianist, composer and arranger who will perform with his group to propose a repertoire made up of famous and also unreleased musical pieces.
On March 19th, instead, it will be the turn of the Acoustic Swing Trio with Michele Ariodante (guitar), Mauro Carpi (violin) and Marco Gaudio (double bass) who will perform not only jazz songs, but as their name suggests, swing music in an ideal story of the history of this musical genre, born in the twenties and evolved to become a musical genre of primary importance in the United States. The swing genre is distinguished by a characteristic movement of the rhythm section and by a type of musical performance accompanied by frenetic dances. Antonella Parnasso (vocals) and Roberto Pistolesi (drums) will assist the trio.
The fourth appointment on March 26th includes the King of swing on stage, Emanuele Urso. It will be a real musical tribute to Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa, the first a great American clarinetist who was famous in the thirties and forties, the second is considered the greatest drummer of all time, the first musician to make the general public aware that the drums are not just an accompanying instrument but can become the protagonist of concerts.
The festival will close on April 3 with Walter Ricci, a pianist and jazz singer of the highest international level, who will perform in a concert whose Neapolitan sounds are closely connected to the great jazz music of New Orleans.
