The exhibition “About Africa” by Trapani photographer Francesco Bellina will be inaugurated on Friday 31 January at the S. Rocco museum in Trapani.
There are 49 shots on Africa, with all the symbolism that revolves around this continent so tormented by colonialism and civil wars.
The exhibition is proposed as a journey through the photographs taken by Bellina during his pilgrimage along the African continent, telling in particular the two themes that are very close to his heart: the trafficking of African women enslaved and forced into prostitution, especially in our country, and then a fascinating reportage in just 7 shots on the world of fishermen from Tunisia and Ghana, forced to face new and important challenges in their relationship with the sea.
The exhibition “About Africa” has already had an important response in Brussels, especially with regard to the theme of African women, while the photos on the problems of fishermen have already been exhibited at the Civic Aquarium in Milan.
“About Africa” is not just a photographic exhibition to visit and then forget about; it can offer important topics for debate on extremely current issues such as immigration and the exploitation of men and women, attracted by the Western “world” and the mirage of living a better life here, but who often cross paths with unscrupulous criminals.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, January 31 and will be open until April 23 thanks also to the patronage of the Embassy of Ghana.
