Preparations are underway in Custonaci for the 40th edition of the Living Nativity Scene of Custonaci, which confirms itself as an event not to be missed, one of a kind between tradition and Christmas magic.
The representation of the nativity of Christ attracts thousands of visitors every year and is held in the suggestive Grotta di Mangiapane, with a cast of over 160 people, not only made up of actors who play the part of the classic characters of the nativity scene, but also of the workers who take care of the preparation of an event that is demanding from an organizational point of view.
We must give due applause to the organizing association that, with the patronage of the municipality of Custonaci, organizes one of the most important events in the area during the Christmas days and then from 4 to 6 January 2025.
In ancient times, the life of the shepherds that took place inside the Grotta di Mangiapane was not so different from the scenes represented in the Gospel and this is why the Scurati cave represents the best location.
It is no coincidence that this cave, so beautiful and evocative in its genre, was the location last September of the famous European Heritage Days when, on this occasion, it was possible to spend wonderful moments discovering the Mangiapane Cave, immersed in the fantastic scenery of the Monte Cofano nature reserve.
This cave is also used in the summer to provide the backdrop for a literary review organized by the Dino Grammatico Study Center. But it is during the Christmas period that the cave comes to life particularly, adorning itself with torches, Roman pans and oil lanterns to recreate the classic Christmas atmosphere.
As every year, visitors to the museum will be accompanied by collateral events such as concerts, cultural itineraries and the gastronomic village with games and music.
