The Sicilian cassata is the most famous dessert in Sicily and how can you say no to this extraordinary triumph of sweetness?
Surely those who are on a diet perhaps for the days of the first edition of Cassata Fest, created with the patronage of the municipality of Trapani, will abandon the scales and dietician to taste one of the most heights of Sicilian pastry making.
Between one bite and another it is also interesting to understand the cultural origin of this goodness and this is why during the evenings of the event there will be moments of in-depth analysis with conferences and seminars to enhance the confectionery tradition of our territory.
Cassata Fest will not only be the triumph of local pastry making thanks to the participation of the Trapani pastry chefs´ association, but also aims to enhance local specialties such as busiate alla trapanese made with Sicilian grain flours, Nubia garlic and Pizzutello tomatoes from Paceco grown from organic and sustainable agriculture.
Those who approach the stands will see slices of Sicilian cassata or miniature cassatine being distributed with a recommended offer, because this is, in any case, an event aimed at raising funds to support two socially useful projects to protect the environment.
Cassata Fest is in fact organized by the local section of Legambiente Trapani-Erice and has two important projects at heart: the first concerns the supervision against fires and abandonment of waste in the salt pan reserve of Trapani and Paceco, an initiative already carried out in previous years which has given such excellent results that fires were reduced by at least 50 percent.
The second project concerns, however, the custody and maintenance of an educational garden to promote knowledge of the typical plants of the Mediterranean area, recently named after Brother Biagio at the Don Milani nursery and primary school of the Nunzio Nasi institute in Trapani .
