In view of Holy Week, exhibitions on the Passion and Death of Jesus are also multiplying and we would like to highlight one that deserves the right amount of attention to better understand the meaning of Good Friday and not limit ourselves to simply being spectators of a procession.
The artistic exhibition “Thesauro suo novo et vetera” will be inaugurated on March 21st and will be open to visitors until July 14th, a Latin expression meaning “His new and old treasure” or rather all the artistic heritage, sometimes even unpublished, that the artists of Trapani have created over the centuries to express with their eyes and hands the deepest meaning of Easter.
There is no Resurrection if there is no Passion and Death of Jesus and this is why visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the sight of a real treasure that pays homage to the popular piety of the city.
The exhibition, which will be located at the church of Sant´Agostino, in the historic centre, is curated by Father Piero Messana, by Professor Lina Novara and Don Liborio and will be free until Easter Sunday, then from 1st April it will be can be visited upon payment of a ticket.
In fact, as Bishop Fragnelli pointed out, "The history of our diocese calls for particular attention to the world of art and music, religious and social associations. Of great interest is popular piety, which involves many people of all ages in the patronal feasts and Holy Week events.”
