Over the last year at Torre di Ligny there have been many photographic exhibitions on the most varied themes but never an exhibition that had the Ligny tower itself as its protagonist in every corner and perspective.
And this is why last January 13th the exhibition entitled "Turrigni" by different authors, from Trapani and beyond, who participated in a contest organized by the Ermes association, which saw the participation of 20 amateur and professional photographers immortalize the famous Trapani tower in their shots. Overall there were 37 photographs in the competition, but only 20 were selected by the jury for the exhibition which will be open to visitors until February 29th.
To each photograph the author has given a name which also ironically summarizes what the shot has immortalized and above all the visitor will be able to admire in each work the great Trapani nature that shines through them, because the Ligny Tower represents the people or rather the fishermen and the simple residents who live near the monument every day.
Even if the Ligny Tower is not part of the system of the ancient and original five towers, it is, however and above all, the symbol of Trapani that the people of Trapani must protect and guard jealously as in the past the same tower defended the city from the incursions of the Turkish invaders and Barbary and maintained this defensive function until the Second World War.
Returning to the photographic exhibition, it should be remembered for the first place winner that there is an additional prize, namely the possibility that their photography will be exhibited in Livorno from 2 March in an exhibition in the famous Extra Factory exhibition centre.
