The Egadi islands are also preparing for Christmas and to the joy of the residents but also of the tourists who do not fail to visit the archipelago in this period, a rich program of events has been set up promoted and organized by the municipality of Favignana in collaboration with the local pro loco. This is a program that will end on January 6th with moments of celebration, music and joy.
First of all, a free train will circulate through the streets of Favignana departing from Piazza Matrice and then a structure with games and entertainment for children will be set up at the former Florio factory.
However, it will not only be the largest of the Egadi islands that will be festively decorated because the other islands have also planned moments of Christmas atmosphere; in fact, the island of Marettimo will host the traditional Santa Claus parade through the streets of the island from 20 to 22 December, while in Levanzo the notes of traditional Christmas carols will resonate with the music of bagpipes.
This year there will be no shortage of tastings of Christmas sweets and mulled wine, as well as the sfincia festival and the ricotta festival, while on 4 January in Piazza Europa in Favignana the well-known Trapani pastry chef Vito Filingeri has been called to delight those in attendance with the Festival of chocolate.
New Yearīs Eve will be full of musical events in the archipelago with music in Piazza Europa starting from 11pm and the same event in Marettimo and Levanzo with DJ set music.
Last but not least, the Christmas program will be the traditional swim in the sea on Christmas morning, in which every year a group of daredevils made up only of adults wearing thermal suits will throw themselves into the sea, challenging the freezing water in a daring undertaking that over the years in recent years has attracted the attention of national television.
