For Christmas 2023 Custonaci is preparing to set up its living nativity scene, recreated inside the Grotta Mangiapane, which lends itself nicely to a truly unique atmosphere.
The scenography of the places is quite suggestive, because next to the cave there are some houses built in the 19th century by those shepherds who lived there from agriculture and sheep-rearing.
Although many decades have passed since these houses were abandoned, their charm has remained intact and this is why the cultural association Living Museum of Custonaci, with the patronage of the municipal administration, has decided to set up one of the most characteristic events of Christmas or the living nativity scene with a cast of over 160 people.
These are not only figures who play the role of the classic characters of the nativity scene, but are also those who technically carry it out since it is the same workers, with great organizational effort, who recreate the atmosphere of Bethlehem of the birth of Jesus.
The nativity scene can be visited on the following days: 25-26-27-28 December 2023 and 5-6 and 7 January 2024 with a ticket of 10 euros for adults, while for children aged 4 to 10 years there is a reduction of 5 €. Under 4s and disabled people enjoy free entry.
To purchase the ticket, you must go to the historic center of Custonaci and the cost of the ticket also includes the tasting of typical products. For those more familiar with technology, there is also the possibility of purchasing the ticket online.
To guarantee maximum safety of the places and visitors, the organization has provided a civil protection and first aid service.
