The most important event of this late summer 2023, the Cous Cous Fest, returns to San Vito Lo Capo from 15 to 24 September, the food and wine event par excellence which aims to celebrate a dish made essentially with a poor ingredient such as semolina , but which has today become a luxury dish, sometimes paid for in gold by restaurants that offer it based on fish.
The format of the event founded in 1998 always includes an international competition capable of uniting peoples and cultures in the name of couscous in the name of integration and social inclusion.
Year after year, the Cous Cous Fest has grown a lot, consolidating itself as the flagship event of the San Vito Lo Capo tourist season, capable of attracting more than two hundred chefs from seventeen nations, who will prepare couscous based on their culinary traditions.
As always, the program of the event does not only include gastronomic but also cultural and musical events, offering the numerous tourists and visitors arriving in the seaside village a qualified schedule of events and absolutely free musical concerts on the beach.
The first day of the event, 15 September, starts with a bang thanks to the concert by Carmen Consoli in San Vito Lo Capo, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has published 12 albums in her career, touching on different musical genres such as alternative rock, pop rock and folk rock. The second evening, however, includes the performance of I Tarantolati di Tricarico, who are a popular musical group from Lucania, who will offer the public various pieces of ethnic and folk music.
Sunday 17 September will be the turn of Lidia Schillaci who, thanks to an orchestra made up exclusively of women, will perform a fascinating show dedicated to Lucio Dalla, who would have turned eighty this year.
On Monday 18 September Raiz will be the protagonist, the singer of Almamegretta and protagonist of the series "Marie Fuori", who has released an album in which he remakes some songs by Sergio Bruni, while on Tuesday 19 September, again in San Vito Lo Capo, he will be on stage the fifth show, which is the Rosa Folk Fest, a show inspired by the figure of the Sicilian singer-songwriter Rosa Balistreri, the first female activist to fight against the mafias and in favor of female emancipation.
On Wednesday 20 September there will be a concert with the Kolors, an Italian musical group formed in 2009 and which has reached the peak of popularity with songs such as "Italodisco", very popular in this summer of 2023.
The following day, Lo Stato Sociale will arrive in San Vito Lo Capo with a concert where its best-known song “Una vita on holiday” will certainly not be missing, with which the musical group presented itself at the 2018 Sanremo Festival with the performance of the eighty-year-old dancer Paddy Jones.
Friday 22 September will be the turn of Coma Cose, an extraordinary musical duo, whose name represents a mental state, coma, to be precise, and then the name cose for simple assonance. On Saturday 23 September everyone will be on the floor dancing with the DJ set of RTL.102.5, while the musical event will close on Sunday 24 September with the concert by Simona Molinari, a refined singer-songwriter, composer and actress with a repertoire mainly dedicated to jazz and swing .
