These days Trapani is an open-air set for the filming of the fiction Makari now in its third edition, but here we are talking about dramas for television; what we want to promote today is an authentic event dedicated to cinema which will be held from 22 to 25 June in the suggestive location of Casina delle Palme with the event "Trapani Film Festival".
It will be a festival, which will hopefully take place annually, which intends to celebrate Italian and American cinema with some recently released productions of great importance.
The organizers, under the patronage of the municipality of Trapani, are the founders of the Italian-American production house 3 Point Productions and have a very ambitious goal: to bring to Trapani a film festival like so many there are to make Trapani, city of the sea, of wind and salt and also cities of the seventh art with big stars as guests. Meanwhile, this year begins with many guests. Two names among all: Ficarra and Picone.
In this sense, 3 Point Productions has significant experience behind it, because in the last decade it has organized screenings and events around Italy for a vast and heterogeneous audience with great enthusiasm from critics as well.
The film festival will open on Thursday 22 June with the virtual concert by Timothy James and after the video greeting by Ficarra and Picone, the evening will open with the screenings of documentaries and short films made by various production companies.
Trapani Film Festival is above all a competition where the productions on display are divided into four categories: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Documentary and Best TV/Web Series.
To these are added three special categories which are Trinacria Award, a section dedicated to works shot and produced in Sicily, Fame di Film, a section dedicated to cinematographic works with a food and wine theme and the City of Trapani Award for projects that enhance the area.
The films in competition will be evaluated by a jury made up of sector technicians, actors, directors and film critics who, after careful evaluation, will decree the first place which will win a distribution award on the independent streaming platform webeam.it (online since May 2023).
