A show will be staged for Women´s Day in Trapani at the Ariston Theater entitled "La Bottega del Caffè" interpreted by an exceptional actor, Michele Placido, who will play the role of Don Marzio, an eighteenth-century Neapolitan nobleman.
Michele Placido´s is a welcome return to Trapani after making his debut on the small screen in 1983 when Placido played the role of the famous commissioner Corrado Cattani in the television series "La Piovra".
Exactly forty years have passed since that experience and today a little aged, but no less good and passionate for this, he returns not to deal with the mafia and crime, but to take on the role, as we said, of a famous character in a comedy Carlo Goldoni´s masterpiece.
The coffee shop is a comedy in three acts composed in 1750 and takes place in Venice during the carnival over an entire day; practically the curtain rises when the sun rises at dawn and closes when night falls.
In a Venetian square overlooked by various shops, including a coffee shop, the stories of many characters of the comedy intertwine, including Don Marzio, a frequent visitor to this place, where he loves to gossip about the affairs of the other protagonists of the comedy and then put them in a bad light.
Don Marzio is none other than a nobleman now in decline, whose conduct would have remained a pleasant pastime inside the café if it hadn´t been fomented by another character, a certain Pandolfo, owner of a gambling house, who insisted on this via Veneziana, who took advantage of Don Marzio´s gossip, causing him to get into a series of troubles.
By now branded as a spy and defamatory, Don Marzio, extremely fed up with this situation, decides to leave the city also because he was a lonely man and abandoned by everyone.
The center of the comedy is this coffee shop, the current bars, which are still today the usual meeting places for various characters, who argue, discuss, help each other and are interested in other people´s matters over the usual cup of coffee.
