In the suggestive medieval village of Erice, the atmosphere of Christmas returns with the event "EricèNatale-il Borgo dei Presepi" which takes place until 8 January with many initiatives ranging from exhibitions to shows for children, from Christmas markets to concerts and up to the inevitable nativity scenes which are the highest representation of the nativity of Jesus.
Obviously the imagination of the authors on how to make them knows no bounds, including the smallest crib in the world made on the head of a pin.
In these festive days, the visitor who climbs to the top by cable car or private vehicle will be able to stroll through the streets of the village, in the churches and craft shops and visit the various nativity scenes made with different styles and materials.
In Piazza della Loggia and in Piazzetta S. Giuliano, Christmas markets have been set up in traditional wooden houses where traders offer customers numerous gift ideas ranging from costume jewelery to toys or simple objects to furnish and beautify a home.
Furthermore, for the entertainment of the little ones, the house of Santa Claus has been set up in Piazza S. Giuliano with musical performances.
Around the city the traditional musical notes of the bagpipers will resound and from 14 to 30 December it will be possible to listen to the notes of fascinating ancient music with the XXVI edition of the International Ancient Music Festival which includes concerts and ensembles on the bill, not only on a national level but also international in the churches of S. Martino, S. Giovanni and in the other characteristic places of Erice.
The review, which is organized by the Amici della Musica association always with the patronage of the municipality of Erice, also includes a collateral event called "Chat, music, poetry and hippocras".
It is an event that will be divided into six shows set in medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods with the tasting of delicious pastry products that were prepared in those eras.
Other events within EricèNatale concern sport and solidarity with "Christmas Running to Erice", which is a non-competitive foot race, which aims to collect food products for the poorest.
And to conclude the night of December 31st there will be music and entertainment in Piazza della Loggia with the Ottoni Animati and Dance Music with DJ S. Anguzza.
