Not initially planned on the bill, Antonella Ruggiero´s concert at the Cous Cous Fest in S. Vito Lo Capo is added at the last minute and enriches even more the food and wine event that will start on September 16.
The famous soloist of Matia Bazar takes the place of Paola Turci, who unfortunately has given up for health reasons, but Antonella Ruggiero is much more than a replacement and therefore will be better able to entertain the public with her extraordinary musical repertoire, which is very heterogeneous in culture and origin.
Her career began in 1974, but just a year later she was one of the founding members of the Matia Bazar group and thanks to this partnership that lasted until 1989, Ruggiero also achieved international fame.
With the Matia Bazar Antonella Ruggiero produces a series of hits ranging from Tonight that evening, For an hour of love, Only you, Souvenir, I hear you and many more, selling millions of records in Italy and around the world.
After leaving the Matia Bazar, Antonella Ruggiero temporarily retires from the scene to devote herself to the care of her newborn son and remains away for seven years during which she also dedicates herself to a path of spiritual and personal research that leads her to shoot the world. This inner introspection ends in 1996 when she returns to the stage as a soloist.
In 1998 she returns to the Sanremo Festival with Amore faraissimo and over the years she has participated in the Italian Song Festival with great success with audiences and critics.
For Antonella Ruggiero there is not only pop music but also an intense opera and theatrical activity that has taken her around the world in many theaters, obtaining various prizes and awards.
Now, surprisingly, she performs on the stage of S. Vito Lo Capo together with the Musicanti, a group of musicians who have been making music for over twenty years, contaminating the traditional Sicilian musical repertoire with sounds and melodies from other countries such as those of the Mediterranean and of Africa.
