The event "Le vie dei Tesori", a festival that has brought culture out of buildings and universities to be embraced by citizens and tourists, returns to Trapani for three consecutive weekends in September.
Trapani for this occasion wears the most beautiful dress and opens its wonders or its treasures to people. Sixteen sites, some new never seen before, others already visited, but it is a joy to see them again as the special visit to get to know the Prefecture with its rooms and the numerous works of art that make up the furnishings.
Although it is not part of the Trapani area, there is a special new entry, the Ducale Marmi di Custonaci, which opens its doors to let visitors know the great history of its workers, especially of the stonecutters, who since the Second World War , they rolled up their sleeves to rebuild the Trapani destroyed by bombing; in fact, much of the marble used to reconstruct the city comes from the Custonaci quarry.
The other sites that will be the subject of a cultural journey are the workshop of the coral master, Platimiro Fiorenza, but we will not forget the historic residences of the city such as the Palazzo Riccio di Morana, now the seat of the Free Municipal Consortium.
And then yet another jewel which is the Palazzo Montalto, in via XXX gennaio, so called, because it was the residence of judge Ciaccio Montalto.
Villa Aula will not be forgotten, which is located a few steps from the central Via Fardella and to conclude the series of historic houses, the famous Villino Nasi cannot be missing, which was the home of the illustrious former minister Nunzio Nasi, who began to build it in 1898.
Churches cannot be missing such as the church of S. Domenico which after some time of closure to worship finally reopens its doors and again the cathedral of S. Lorenzo, the church of the Collegio, the church of the Holy Souls of Purgatory, seat of the Sacred Groups of the Mysteries, and finally the Baroque Chapel of Mortification.
As for the monuments there are the Dovecote and the Ligny Tower which returns to the circuit of the Vie dei Tesori after a year of absence. Finally, there are the Tonnara di Bonagia and another institutional building, which is the Palazzo d’Alì, better known as the town hall building.
There will also be some side events such as walks with "the nose up" and finally on the scheduled bus you can reach the oriented reserve of the Nubia salt pans.
To participate in the initiative, just purchase the coupon for entry with a guided tour or at the info points set up, even if online booking is recommended at www.leviedeitesori.com.
