The most original and tasty event in the field of local gastronomy is back: “Bagli, Olio e Mare” scheduled in the suggestive location of Baia Santa Margherita in Castelluzzo, a few kilometers from San Vito Lo Capo.
Among other things, nearby is Makari, another fraction of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, which the Italian television audience has learned about thanks to the highly successful fiction of the same name broadcast on Rai 1.
Returning to Bagli, Olio e Mare, as always, the tasting of freshly caught good fried blue fish takes place by the sea for both lunch and dinner.
The suggestive aspect of the event consists in the fact that the fish is fried on a huge pan full of boiling oil accompanied with good fresh white wine.
The menu of the day, however, also reserves for visitors the traditional bruschetta, the busiate alla trapanese on the first day of the event as appetizers, while on the other two days the organization includes pasta with sardines and fennel and pic-pac pasta.
For those unfamiliar with this type of pasta is part of the traditional Sicilian poor cuisine and the terms "pic-pac" derive from two typical expressions of the Sicilian dialect to indicate the male and female members. Pronouncing these two words in certain contexts can be a bit vulgar but they represent the cultural tradition of our territory.
Returning to the dish, this type of pasta, possibly spaghetti, is seasoned with a sauce made from diced cherry tomatoes, cooked in a pan with onion, oil and garlic. A real treat that tourists but also simple visitors can taste together with the classic yellow melon of Nubia for only 15 euros.
