The International Festival of feature films, short films and documentaries related to the theme of the environment and the sustainability of human rights will start on 11 July in San Vito Lo Capo.
This event, which is organized by various organizations of the third sector with the patronage of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, wants to draw the attention of the public especially on the theme of environmental protection, because if we do not understand the importance of environmental protection , nature will continue to turn against us.
And we are already suffering from the first effects of climate change that is already making itself felt: abnormal heat in spring and torrential rains with a tropical flavor in winter with considerable damage to agriculture.
The anomalous and disruptive drought that we have been experiencing since May is putting our country´s agricultural economy to a severe test in addition to the health consequences of high temperatures, where especially fragile people suffer the most.
The issue of human rights is also very topical also because of the war in Ukraine, where the right to peace of a people has been trampled by the shameful aggression of Russia; and as always in all wars, it is always civilians who pay the consequences.
Thanks to this event, as many people as possible will be made aware of the priority that governments around the world must keep in mind, because present and future generations will mourn the consequences.
Sicilia Ambiente Festival has reached its fourteenth edition and over the years it has become increasingly important, including in certificates of esteem, up to the coveted "Green Culture Award" awarded to the best environmental initiative in 2017.
Every evening until July 16 in the various locations of the seaside village, including the beach of the tourist port, a series of animated films and documentaries will be screened where the authors in competition will bring their works that will be evaluated by a technical jury.
