An event not to be missed for tango enthusiasts is the "Tango Marathon" event, which takes place in San Vito Lo Capo from 1 to 5 June and will also make the proverbial broomsticks dance with Argentine rhythms and sounds.
Tango is a dance that represents the artistic and popular expression of a community, the Argentine one of Rio De La Plata, but nothing tells us about the origin of the name and above all who gave it.
The historical origin of the dance is instead known and must be framed in the historical period that goes from 1880 to 1924 but only in the immediate post-war period the tango begins to become fashionable in the great ballrooms of European capitals, also becoming known as a dance by the enormous sensuality and why not also for its erotic charge.
Returning to our event, thanks to the summer and also the newfound desire to dance while holding each other, it was decided to organize an event, which will certainly entertain tourists and even simple visitors.
You will dance on a structure specially set up for the occasion, indoors and sheltered from the elements, but 10 meters from the sea thanks to a platform of 200 square meters. and with an exclusively parquet flooring, on a soft and flat base.
The seduction and sensuality of this dance will be amplified thanks to the sound of the sea that will frame this splendid tango marathon, whose start is scheduled for Wednesday 1 June with a preview at the rhythm of a milonga.
The dances will then officially begin on Thursday 2 June at 4.00 pm with the registration of the participants at the entrance to the dance floor and then from 4.30 pm until late at night they will dance and so every day until Sunday 5 June.
The event is organized by the Tango Te Quiero Mas association with the patronage of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo and was created to spread the Argentine tango right in our area.
