For a few weeks now the municipal administration of San Vito Lo Capo has announced the program of summer events in 2022 and among the events that will make the bathing season enjoyable will be the "ZERO BARRIERE" marathon, which will be held from 2 to 5 June with a weekend dedicated to accessible sport.
During the days there will be non-competitive competitions open to all those who are for integration and for the removal of barriers, which, unfortunately, are not only architectural, but also cultural and therefore more difficult to break down, but not for this. impossible.
The Disabili no Limits association, which organizes the event under the patronage of the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, knows the battles very well, but it does not give up easily and continues its fight in the name of social and cultural inclusion. of disabled people.
The marathon includes a 10 km circuit inside the fishing village 2.5 km long only which is repeated four times without any architectural barrier.
The program includes the start on Thursday 2 June with the arrival of the participants, transfer, check-in and accommodation in accommodation, while on Friday 3 June the event begins with the gathering of the participants for the practice of the first sports competitions ranging from activity diving up to baskin, a new sporting activity inspired by basketball but with particular and innovative features, and again from wheelchair hockey and beach soccer to ragby wheelchair performances.
The last day is Sunday 5 June with the marathon, which includes the departure from the San Vito promenade at the "Zero Barriere" beach, in which young athletes born in 2010 up to the 2002-2003 class participate.
