Finally, and it is appropriate to say it, the official news arrives that we have all been waiting for for a long time: the Procession of the Mysteries will return to the streets of Trapani for the joy, faith and devotion of many Trapani people and tourists who are already beginning to come to Trapani for the Easter holidays.
It all started on January 31, 2020 when an infamous resolution of the Council of Ministers sanctioned a state of emergency in our country for the first time due to Covid, which was already about to knock on our doors.
We didnŽt really know what a state of emergency meant and we didnŽt even know what Covid was. Then the first cases in February, the first deaths and the first red areas; in short, it is useless to list the events that have taken place because they are historical facts such as the decision to cancel the traditional Good Friday procession for the first time in March due to the pandemic, an event that had not happened since the Second World War.
The state of emergency was gradually extended with its term on March 31 last and after the positive outcome of the return of the processions to Sicily by the Sicilian Episcopal Conference, permission was received for the regular performance of the procession on April 15.
For the 2022 itinerary, the Unione Maestranze thought only of the historic center with stops for groups no longer in the traditional Piazza Vittorio Emanuele but in Piazza Municipio in front of Palazzo dŽAli. Here are the streets that the Sacred Groups will travel from 2:00 pm on Good Friday until 1:00 pm the next day when the Addolorata is expected to enter the church of the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
