Another cultural appointment at the San Rocco Diocesan Museum is with the personal exhibition of the Sicilian Maestro Franco Fratantonio “Luminessenza-Iconography of light”.

Inaugurated last February 20, the visitor, by making an appointment on the facebook page of the museum and in compliance with the anti Covid regulations, will be able to admire a vast selection of pastels, oils and watercolors that Maestro Fratantonio created both when he was young and in more mature age, making the visitor immerse in an ideal journey within an artistic journey between visual art and spirituality with a vast and intense iconography on light.

Franco Fratantonio is an artist who has had two privileges: the first was to know and associate with artists and scholars of great importance, who were fundamental for his artistic training, while the second was to work for twenty years at Milan, in particular at the Teatro alla Scala where for 6 years he took care of the scenography, perfecting his technique even more.

Returning to his Trapani exhibition, among other things he returned to live in Sicily after the Milanese experience, there is in his works a continuous search for light, which is not that simple desire for physical light of the sun that maybe you admire when you take a walk in the middle of nature, but the inner light that each of us, perhaps with our eyes, emanates.

And it is precisely on this type of interior light that the painting of Maestro Fratantonio is based, an artistic technique where the use of color is so skilful that it almost emanates a vibration or rather a luminescence, from which the title was derived with a play on words. of the exhibition “Luminissenza”, that is the essence of light.

Furthermore, light is also a religious symbol and for Christians, light represents God, because God is light in heaven and on earth. God is like a lamp that illuminates the path of all those men who tend towards him.

The exhibition is curated by Don Liborio Palmeri, who is the director of the museum himself, as well as rector of the church of S. Rocco, and by Carla Ricevuto.

During the exhibition, which will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5 to 8 pm, it will also be possible to see a video made right inside the museum.
