An ancient Mexican tradition arrives in Trapani on the occasion of the anniversary of November 2, dedicated to the commemoration of the dead.
This festival, because this is what it is, is called “Dia De Los Muertos” and in Mexico it serves to celebrate life while at the same time remembering the dead as if they were still alive.
It is a festival very far from our traditions, but after Holloween, our culture is now constantly contaminated by other influences that fascinate the youngest people more.
This festival, which will make Trapani breathe the atmosphere of the animated film "Coco" by Pixar, will have as its stage the historic center of Trapani, which until November 2 will be the location of creative workshops for adults and children who can try their hand at creating of a classic Mexican marionette while older children will be able to enter the fantastic world dedicated to the construction of Calaveras, which are the traditional altars dedicated to the dead with yellow and orange flowers, sweet and warm delicious dishes, under the smoke of the incense that will make mystical the whole atmosphere. In addition, there will be moments of musical entertainment.
This festival is organized by the "122 Ricami" association, which runs a small gallery right in the historic center of Trapani, 122 Ricami, and is a place made up of art objects with innovative and even extravagant trends that two women, after working abroad, they chose to return to Italy and bring the fruit of their ingenuity to the very traditional Sicily.
Anyone interested should know that until November 2 every afternoon in Corso Vittorio Emanuele from 6.30 pm they can immerse themselves in a new experience that is the first of a series of events that the 122 Ricami association will carry out.
