The “Muciara Short Film Festival”, an international competition that sees short films and meetings with authors and production companies as protagonists, kicks off next August 1st.
The event is in its first edition and will take place in Valderice in the suggestive Tonnara di Bonagia. The idea is created by the "Bonagia Eventi and Promotion" Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Valderice.
The review represents one of the first events that are realized after a really complicated year, due to the pandemic from Covid-19, which saw the cancellation of several events like this one, but this season marked by the first reopening sees it as one of the first events cultural events to take place in the provincial territory is the “Muciara Short Film Festival”.
The event, which had its prologue in streaming, ended on 30 June in which the authors and independent production companies had access by simple subscription on the Film Freeway platform, while the second phase will take place on 1 August where a jury will decide the winner after selecting the works in competition. During the final evening the works out of competition will also be screened.
Within the event there will be the 4th edition of the Tuna Fish Fest, a gastronomic festival to promote the area through culinary events related to the preparation of tuna, which in ancient times was fished and worked in abundance in the trap of Bonagia.
Returning to the Muciara Short Film Festival there are not many events that include a competition on short films, especially if made by independent production companies, but every occasion is good to return to fill the squares and streets and make a contribution to the revitalization of the territory. through its history; in fact, the word Muciara derives from the Arabic mucir which indicated the smallest boat in the trap, which the rais used to move from one point to another.
These suggestive boats are still present today near the tonnara and will soon return to their former glory thanks to an executive project of recovery and museum creation.
