The second edition of the Italian Film Festival to be held in San Vito Lo Capo from 8 to 12 June was presented a few days ago at the Casa del Cinema in Rome.
Basically, this event represents for the seaside village the first major event after the pandemic and therefore takes on the sweet taste of restarting in full safety, in compliance with the anti Covid-19 regulations for a sector like that of the cinema, but of the entertainment in general after months of restrictions.
The artistic director of the event is the director Paolo Genovese, who unveiled during the press conference a rich program of appointments with the protagonists of the works in review, which are mostly national productions of feature films and shorts by established directors and young beginners.
The cultural event is also and above all a competition that sees 8 feature films competing, 4 of which are debut films, and 4 documentaries that will have the theme of the environment as a common thread.
The event will be broadcast by Rai and will feature the host Veronica Maya, who will conduct the award ceremony with the delivery to the winners of the prestigious "Silver Star" award for the following sections: Best Film, Best First Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Character of the Year Award and Audience Award.
The Vittorio Gassman and Franca Valeri prizes will also be awarded, the latter passing away last year after having crossed the prestigious milestone of the century of her life.
Also this year being the centenary of Nino Manfredi´s birth, a retrospective on the great actor from Ciociaria could not be missing, who was the protagonist of many films, including the legendary film "Per Grazia Ricevuta", directed by the same Manfredi.
To judge the works in competition there is really a prestigious jury composed of Serena Autieri, Giusy Buscemi, Paolo Conticini, Donatella Finocchiaro, Chiara Francini, Christian Marazziti and Silvio Orlando as President.
The event is sponsored by: the Ministry of Culture (MiC), the Ministry of the Environment, the Region of Sicily, the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, the Experimental Center of Cinematography and the Zingaro Nature Reserve.
