The dates of the Florio di Favignana Festival scheduled from 13 to 20 June 2021 with great guests of international level have been announced.
This is the eighth edition of a cultural event, which in 2020 could not be held due to the pandemic, but this year, encouraged by the epidemiological data, which is clearly improving thanks to vaccines, the artistic direction intends to make up for lost time with a rich calendar of proposals between music and literature.
As for the literary review, the first confirmation of the presence of Oliver Stone, famous Hollywood director, arrives, who will present his book "Chasing the light" (Looking for the light, published for Italy by Nave di Teseo) an autobiography which offers us a truly ruthless portrait of film America, steeped in dreams and nightmares at the same time. Oliver Stone will also be on vacation for a few days on the island and will also receive the prestigious Favignana 2021 award as part of this event, which will be officially presented to him on Saturday 19 June at Palazzo Florio.
The review, as we said, will also have a musical flavor and among the first guests on the program there will be several artists who will cheer the summer evenings with their famous melodies.
The confirmations of the musical guests concern the Kitty Hoff Trio (Sunday 13 June), the Elimi Jazz Quintet, who will offer a delicious musical aperitif at the Pretti Resort structure, the Duo Plano / Del Negro (14 June at 21.30 at the former Stabilimento Florio, the musical duo Musica Nuda with Petra Magoni and Ferruccio Spinetti (June 15 at 9.30pm-Ex Stabilimento Florio), the duo Fiscella Martorana (June 16 at 6.30pm-I Pretti resort) while in the evening at 9.30pm at the former Florio factory it will be the turn of another famous musical couple composed by Anna Tifu and Elena Matteucci who will cheer the public on the notes of the violin and the piano.
On Thursday 17 June at 9.30 pm there will be the Boheme with the performance of some of the most famous pieces of Giacomo Puccini´s opera thanks to the precious collaboration with the A. Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo. To stay on the subject of musical virtuosity, Friday 18 June will be the turn of Lydia Maria Bader, a famous German pianist who has performed in theaters all over the world and is a particularly popular artist in China. Another noteworthy pianist is Ida Pellicoli who will perform on Saturday 19 June with the performance of classical and modern pieces.
The Trami Duo with Gordon Fantini and Sinforosa Petralia will close the cultural review for an extraordinary concert in which the bassoon-piano combination is truly winning, offering the public the result of the perfect timbral compatibility of the two instruments.
