First edition of the Italian Film Festival in S. Vito Lo Capo which is held in the seaside village until Saturday 3 October.
Not only couscous and the sea, therefore, but also cinema and culture in this particular 2020 in which a state of health emergency is still living and who knows for how long.
In any case, the moment of celebration that every event brings with it is not abandoned and the names of the Italian show that we see in S. Vito Lo Capo are great; first and foremost the famous director Paolo Genovese, artistic director of the event, the actor Edoardo Leo and Paolo Kessisoglu.
Honorary President of the Festival is Fabrizio Del Noce.
The film competition includes the screening of seven films, eight short films and four documentaries.
Marcello Mastroianni defined film festivals and exhibitions as cinema funerals, because the money spent on organizing these events was wasted money for the great actor that could very well be used to produce other films; evidently the great master of Italian cinema was very strict, but these are the events that make the seventh art great, not for a celebration as an end in itself, but to promote high quality production to the general public and also to send the message positive that people must return to cinemas as soon as possible after the closure due to the Covid emergency.
In the awards ceremony on Saturday 3 October, the jury will be asked to award the Best Film, Best First Feature, Best Documentary and Best Short Film with the Silver Star, as well as award the best actor and best actress.
Finally, the jury will also consider awarding a special prize dedicated to the memory of Vittorio Gassman and Franca Valeri, who recently passed away at the age of 100.
