As part of the Seventeenth National Day of Friends of Museums held every year on the first Sunday of October by FIDAM, the Italian Federation of Friends of Museums, a free visit to the Villino or Casino Nasi is organized in Trapani, closed and left in the most complete state of neglect for years.
Sunday 4 October from 10 to 13 and from 15 to 18 there will be an extraordinary opening of what was the seaside holiday home of Nunzio Nasi which he had built in 1898 and then donated to the municipality of Trapani.
It is an important historic building in the city in Art Noveau style, known in Italy as Liberty style, and is surrounded on three sides by the sea and is accessed via a long avenue.
The interior is furnished with period furniture, there is a bust of Nasi himself made by Ettore Ximenes and also precious paintings by Giuseppe Tasty.
The building is strongly linked to the life and history of Nunzio Nasi, who was a very illustrious politician in Trapani history, has held important public offices, including that of Minister of Posts and Public Education.
The love for the city of Trapani was so strong that Nunzio Nasi decided to donate this casino, which he was very fond of the city of Trapani, which over the years he transferred to the Regional Province of Trapani, now a Free Municipal Consortium.
With this initiative, we intend to raise public awareness and also the political authorities on the importance and safeguarding of the asset that has all the credentials to become a house-museum open to the use of citizens and tourists.
Reservation is not necessary, because you will enter in groups of ten respecting, as always, the safety rules, spacing and mask.
