“38 ° Parallelo - tra libri e cantine”, born almost by chance in February 2017, was created to meet the needs of a non-fiction review in Marsala. A city that is not only the natural homeland of wine, but also a meeting point between memory, history and the development of the economy.
Originally the important literary review dedicated to the world of books and culture, which this year reached its 4th edition, should have taken place in Marsala from 20 to 24 May but due to Covid-19 the event has been postponed .
But "38 Parallelo - tra libri e cantine", they did not let themselves be discouraged by the period of Phase 1 and they did not "stop" at all, in fact from March 23 to April 5 they proposed a format in live streaming on their facebook page where the meetings cultural events do not revolve around a book but unfold in a two-way conversation about the current historical moment. Seven appointments were proposed, whose protagonists were some of the witnesses of the previous editions of 38 ° Parallelo, among them, Massimo Bray, Gaetano Savatteri, Giacomo Di Girolamo, Piero Melati, Stefano Allievi, Paola Dubini. And many new entries, such as Domenico Cacopardo, Antonio Lanza, Gianluca Caporaso and Sergio Olivotti.
The Covid-19 situation has not yet completely settled, but with the right precautions and respecting all the provisions, the festival finally restarts and will be held from Thursday 10 September to Saturday 12.
Thursday 10th together with Bishop Mogavero and Fabio Zavattaro in the Municipal Atrium at 6.30 pm it will be “What communities”. Friday 11 at the Salvatore Struppa Library at 6.30 pm we will talk about “Cities that read, virtuous policies” together with Romano Montroni, Annalisa Giacalone, Doriana Nastasi, Rossana Scaturro and Milena Cudia. Finally, Saturday 12 at Palazzo Fici at 11.30 there will be the inauguration of the photographic exhibition Finding Pier Luigi Nervi by Marco Menghi and Matteo Cirenei.
