The traditional Carnival of Valderice has reached its twenty-eighth edition, which has now become one of the traditional events that characterize local folklore with the great participation of thousands of people who come to Valderice to spend an afternoon in joy, because the carnival does not only entertain fun children, but also adults.
This year the rich program of initiatives starts on Sunday 16 February with the parade of allegorical floats, which will walk the main street of the town (Via Vespri) with dance groups.
At 19.00 there will be the tasting of typical products of the culinary tradition of our territory in Piazza Cristo Re and the performance of dance groups.
The evening will close with a large open-air disco with DJs Daniele Millocca and Peppe Ranno.
The celebrations for the carnival will resume on Saturday 22 February and so also on Sunday 23 with the parade of allegorical floats that are made of polystyrene and papier mache by the city workers, who several months before make themselves available with their professionalism and fantasy.
Monday, February 24, Fat Monday, there will be the 15th edition of the silver mask and in the evening the second edition of Miss and Mr. Carnival to elect the most beautiful and funniest costume of the year, while the carnival celebrations will end Tuesday 25 February with a big party in Piazza Tonnara di Bonagia with the display of an allegorical float and finally in Valderice with the tasting of traditional products and dancing evening with group dances in Piazza Cristo Re.
The participation of dance schools in the province is also expected.
As every year, the carnival is organized by the local committee that carries out the initiatives under the patronage of the municipal administration.
