A great sporting event is scheduled in San Vito Lo Capo from October 19th to 21st with the XII edition of the Sprint Triathlon, which attracts many athletes from all over Italy to the seafaring village to try their hand at a series of individual multidisciplinary tests or on three teams evidence.
The three sports disciplines are running, swimming and cycling and take place in immediate succession. Since 2000, triathlon has become an Olympic sport for both men and women.
After the beach volleyball world championships that attracted thousands of students to the beaches of San Vito Lo Capo, thanks to the still lenient weather in this month of October, the athletes, as we said, will compete in three sports disciplines; in particular, walking and cycling is expected on a 4 km street circuit, which will obviously be closed to vehicular traffic.
Also this year the event is dedicated to the memory of Roberto Miceli, an athlete who died prematurely a few years ago and remained in the memory of many who love to remember him with two days full of very intense competitions, involving not only adults but also the very young; in fact, the event begins Saturday, October 21st with the "boys" category composed of very young athletes aged between 12 and 13, while on Sunday morning the "seniors" will compete to win a place in the register gold.
The Sprint triathlon is sponsored by several partners that are in addition to the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo, the CONI and the Department of Sport, Tourism and Entertainment of the Sicily Region.
At the end of the day of competition, as always in every self-respecting event in San Vito Lo Capo, the movida will be the protagonist with musical and gastronomic events for the enjoyment of the many tourists, who still crowd the seaside village, but then it is natural that is so, since these events out of season fall within the perspective of a seasonal adjustment of tourism.
