The last event of the 2019 tourist season is “San Vito Climbing Festival” scheduled from October 17th to 20th and brings together many athletes from all over Italy and the world to take part in a series of competitions that focus on rock climbing .
This is the eleventh edition and it is really curious that in a place that lives essentially on seaside tourism, guests for so many years an event linked to the mountain; in fact it has now become an institutional appointment in the sphere of the seasonal adjustment of tourism and San Vito Lo Capo is now recognized as an ideal destination for this type of discipline.
This year the San Vito Climbing Festival will give more space to the initiatives of locking up and securing some cliffs of Cala Mancina with regards to climbing and other outdoor sports activities.
Finally, since climate change is becoming increasingly topical, there will also be initiatives in the San Vito Lo Capo square to protect the environment.
The event is organized by the sports association Rocce di Sicilia under the patronage of the Municipality of San Vito Lo Capo and consists, as we said, of a series of sport climbing competitions and gatherings with world-famous climbers, but there will be other disciplines such as the mountain biking, slackline, treccking, surfing and much more.
The event is divided into four days with a series of side events that will frame a long weekend in early autumn.
This year the competition will not be missed with children aged 6 to 10 who will compete in complete safety in a small climbing competition on a tower made available by the UISP, a sports promotion organization recognized by CONI, which gives its patronage to the festival.
